I do love a few of the characters, but I have had enough of:

Onions
Turnips
Nipples
Boiled Leather
Small Clothes
Girls who have Flowered
Men-Grown
Name Days
Seven Hells

And so on.Matthew MacNishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03264738483763244969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6694092506511551308.post-59816184558576155882013-02-25T11:35:17.598-05:002013-02-25T11:35:17.598-05:00I've seen (and loved) the first two seasons. ...I've seen (and loved) the first two seasons. Because of that I attempted to read the books, but GRRM's writing style drove me bonkers. His penchant for using crutch words and phrases (like the wholly overused "man-grown" that Bran was constantly whining) and his lack of filter reminded me why I gave up reading high fantasy novels as a kid.

The TV show (which he's involved in and writes) is so much better. I don't know if it's because the plotting is tighter or what, but I just couldn't get into the books.

Anyway, I haven't seen too many gratuitous deaths...but the ones I have seen felt rather real. However, you're right...much like TVD, since I know that it's very likely most of the characters I know will die, I'm into the show for the pageantry of it rather than the characters. In fact, Arya and Tyrion are the only two characters I really care about. The rest are just fun to watch.Shaun Hutchinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01480241164653893038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6694092506511551308.post-60309668001504715742013-02-25T11:25:40.804-05:002013-02-25T11:25:40.804-05:00I haven't seen TVD, but it sounds similar to G...I haven't seen TVD, but it sounds similar to Game of Thrones (or ASoIaF, if you're going by the books), in which, at first, all the death is shocking and awesome, but then it ends up played the F out.Matthew MacNishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03264738483763244969noreply@blogger.com
