And maybe I'm totally pessimistic and way off base, but somehow I don't see that money going to the people who need it. He said that we are abandoning the space station for a while and going back to the moon for an extended period of time. And believe it or not, vacations to the moon are not too far away, but far out of reach for writers. Well, maybe James Patterson or Stephen King. Or that J.K. lady.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05514067724256745623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6694092506511551308.post-47025541705935916982010-02-09T00:49:13.359-05:002010-02-09T00:49:13.359-05:00Yes, it seems like a big step backward. I'm afraid that now that we've stopped, we'll never get going again. And I shudder to have space travel be in the hands of corporations where there's no such thing as research purely for research sake.Shaun Hutchinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01480241164653893038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6694092506511551308.post-58018618909168071692010-02-08T10:19:49.783-05:002010-02-08T10:19:49.783-05:00Whoa - I missed this news too and it makes me very...Whoa - I missed this news too and it makes me very, very sadAndrea Cremerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03326332737401772239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6694092506511551308.post-66546097692815877472010-02-07T21:46:39.006-05:002010-02-07T21:46:39.006-05:00I feel like it's a natural pause. Now, when we're looking at destinations at such exponentially greater distances than the Moon, I think it's smart to test the ice with unmanned missions first. No President's policy is forever. I imagine Mars is next. I wonder if it will take international competition to get men there, the way it did with the Moon.Shannon Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07824123805925551656noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6694092506511551308.post-27834058547283176142010-02-07T16:29:39.078-05:002010-02-07T16:29:39.078-05:00I feel the same way.
