Unplugging

Tomorrow, I take off for a few days in Vegas.  I mentioned when I began this crazy month that I was stupid for planning it in the middle of my vacation.  I've been debating over the last few days whether to just do make up days when I return, but I decided to pre-write the blogs for the week and catch up on comments when I return.

This vacation is going to be different because for the first time in...forever it feels like, I'm going to go completely unplugged.  Not just that I won't be checking social media, but I'm leaving my phone and my computer behind. I won't be reachable. I'm not even taking my Nook. Instead, I have two regular books.

I really need this vacation. My day job has been brutal the last few months and I need to really let go. Being tethered to a phone keeps me from being able to relax. Even if I never have to turn on my computer and make sure that my office is okay, the threat of it is still there, and I think that keeps me from relaxing.

Also, when I did my anti-social media month, I realized that I spend too much time staring at my phone and not enough time engaged with the world around me.  So, from Tuesday morning until Sunday morning, I'm going to fall completely off the grid.  I'm going to treat myself to a spa day, gamble, drink, eat, sit by the pool with Matt, and just generally enjoy Vegas.

So, while I won't be commenting every day, I promise I'll reply to every comment when I return.

Have a great week!

  1. This is why my phone stays in my work pants when I get home at night - until I move it to the next day's pant in the morning.

    Anyway, enjoy!

    1. Sadly, my work phone and non-work phone are the same. Luckily, my work doesn't bother me much outside of the office. But since I'm the only IT guy there, I'm pretty much on-call 24/7.
