The F in FML

I know I still owe a YouTube post (though I'm betting a couple people hope I forget)...getting back to work from vacation has been harder than I expected, so I'll have it up this weekend.

And so it begins...

My pass pages are turned in.
I have an ARC in my hands.
FML has a release date.

6/23/13

The story is out of my hands now.  There are no more changes to be made, no more jokes to tweak.  It's done.  I both love and loathe this part.  I love it because it means I now get to share this book with other people outside of my family.  I loathe it because I have a hard time letting go of books.  There's always more to be done.

But I think that's part of growing as a writer...the letting go.  Realizing that a story is now out of your control.  People will love it or hate it or disregard it completely and there's nothing you can do.

It's always tempting to find reviews and correct people who think it'll suck or who I think misunderstood the plot, but that's the beauty of books: they belong to the readers.  Once the writer lets it go, what he meant becomes meaningless.  The only thing that matters is what the reader feels when they read it.

So, soon it will be out there, and I hope that readers enjoy it.  I sure as hell had a blast writing it, though I listened to WAY too much Katy Perry...god, she's awful.

Now I'm off to something new.

Keep it clean, keep it classy, and jokes are always appreciated.
