FML Madness - It Begins!

As promised, from now until FML's release date, I'm going to be posting FML moments from some great writers, agents, and editors.  Prepare to laugh and cry.  These are some seriously awesome and seriously talented folks, you guys.  Trust me.

Also as promised, I'm going to be giving stuff away.  Lots of stuff.  You're going to want to check back every single day, obsessively, to make sure you don't miss anything.

I'm actually going to start us off by posting the first chapter of FML in its entirety for your reading pleasure.  To go along with it, I'm going to also post the first contest, and I'm making it easy.  All you need to do to enter is leave a comment on this post telling me what you think FML stands for.  And don't pick the obvious answer!  Let's keep it PG-13.  If they wouldn't say it on network TV, let's not say it here.  You'll have until June 25th to leave a comment.  I'll pick my favorite ten comments and put them to a vote.  Enter as many times as you'd like.

Oh, what's the prize?  I'm offering a full manuscript critique.  Send me your manuscript and I'll read it, critique it, and give you notes on how to make it stronger.  And for the non-writers out there, if you win and you don't have a manuscript  or don't want a critique, we'll work something out for you.

Tomorrow I'll be sharing a restaurant FML story from  Jennifer R. Hubbard, author of The Secret Year, Try Not to Breathe, and the upcoming Until It Hurts to Stop.  You won't want to miss it!

Without any further blabbering by me, here's the first chapter of FML.

  1. Loved the first chapter. No guesses as to what FML means other than the obvious though.

  3. I'm about a fourth of the way through my first attempt at a YA novel, and would love a chance to have someone I'm not related to read it!

    1. Rules? There are no rules! And I'm pretty sure Simon feels like he's fighting for his life, so it totally works.

Thanks for the questions! It was a lot of fun. :)

  5. I needed to procrastinate on my thesis. How'd I do?

For Mini-golf Lovers (If Simon dates Cassie)
Finding My Love (If Simon ends up in a Love Triangle)
Forgetting My Limits (If Simon Screws everything up)
Fulfilling My Libido (If Simons gets lucky)
Fortunately, More Leprechauns = (If there's a Low-Budget SyFy original movie adaptation)
